Seun Kuti, an afrobeat musician, was taken into detention on Tuesday night by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Lagos, but was later freed on bail.
Recall that Seun was taken into custody by the police a few days ago on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos after they allege he assaulted a police officer.
Kuti’s attorneys had earlier said in a statement that he will be released on bail in accordance with the Magistrate’s ruling.
His counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, verified the development in a phone conversation with The Punch.
Yes, eun Kuti was just freed, he said.
Additionally, a video of the musician outside the facility was posted online, where friends and admirers celebrated his release.
