Blaqbonez, one of Nigeria’s most promising young rappers and comic stars, has made a request to seasoned artist Asa over his use of her song 360 as a sample on his upcoming album, Young Preacher.
The rapper posted a clip of the song I’d Be Waiting from his upcoming album Young Preacher while the Joeboy and Asa lawsuit was trending on Twitter. He wrote, “Hi queen Asa (@asakemusik), I sampled your classic on the outro of my album. My team has gone out to yours for clearance.
However, it’s important to point out that while the rapper mentioned Asa, a veteran singer who is now dealing with a court order from producer Tempoe and has sued Joeboy, Blaqbonez had mentioned Asake, a swiftly growing artist.
Since then, fans have expressed their theories on the tag, speculating that it might be a sort of double-packed appeal to Asake for the top spot on the national charts as well as for Asa to clear the sample and avoid a lawsuit.
Asa’s debut album, Asa (Asha), contains the single 360, whilst Blaqbonez’s upcoming album, due out on October 28, will be the rapper’s second studio album.
