Peter Obi Slams Tinubu, Says 2023 Presidency Is Not The Turn Of Anybody

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, claiming that the 2023 presidential election is not anyone’s time.
During the party’s Leadership Retreat in Abuja on Monday, the former Governor of Anambra State said this in response to Tinubu’s “Emi Lokan” remark, which means “I am the next.”
According to him, Nigerians should not choose their future leader based on their religion or ethnicity, but rather on character, trust, and ability.
“We will do this retreat now, after the election, the election next year will not be based on ethnicity, we have had it before, it will not be based on religion,” he stated.
“There is no area where Christians can get things cheaper, and there is no place where Muslims can get things cheaper.” It will not be by turn, because it is not anyone’s turn. It can’t be by connection.
“The next election must be based on character and trust, as much as competence.”
Further, Obi stated that leaders must battle and be seen to fight corruption, noting that no money went missing during his tenure as Anambra State Governor.
“If a leader does not steal and his family does not steal, we will eliminate corruption by 70%,” he stated. I was Governor for eight years, and there is no money missing anywhere.
“I’m here to listen; let us put it in writing if we succeed; you must be present to declare this is what we agreed on.” We must have made sacrifices even if we do not achieve 100%.
