Open Letter To Governor Dapo Abiodun

Dear HE Dapo Abiodun,

Why is your government hellbent on committing sacrilege in Ibu-Arijan and the Ijebu Traditional Council of Obas under his Imperial Majesty, Oba(DR) Kayode Sikiru Adetona, The Awujale, and paramount ruler of Ijebu Land, by this your administration’s current onslaught on the ancient Ibu Town with your re-energized attempt to make sure that an alien from Igbotako, Ondo State becomes the next Oba in Ibu Land in Ogun State by enjoying your government backing?

Maybe you do not know what your current moves means, Ibu is one of the less than 15 towns in the Ijebu Traditional Council that produces First-Class Obas, and these Obas are the highest ranking Obas in the council as they occupy strategic position in the Ijebu Traditional Council (ITC) as well as in Ogun State traditional council. It will be a taboo and slap on the faces of all the Obas in Ijebu Traditional Council and the Ogun State Council of Obas if this your government politically motivated moves comes to reality as it will set your name on the path of dishonor for life as you will be known as the willing tool used to bring disrepute to the Ijebu Traditional institution for life.

Today, in your political journey, Ibu has been one of your biggest supporters right from when you contested for the Ogun East Senatorial election in 2015 and lose and when you contested for the Ogun State governorship seat in 2019 and won. we put blood and sweat on the line for you as the Ipake/Moore Polling unit is one of the polling units in Ogun East where you won with a landslide during your failed senatorial bid in 2015.

W hen you contested for the governorship seat in 2019, we went all out against the forces of a sitting governor, armed to the teeth military officers and the influence of a national vice-chairman of the PDP in person of Elder Yemi Akinwonmi to deliver the Ipake/Moore Polling unit and Ayede/Lomiro Ward where Ibu is located to you. If we cannot get healthcare, schools, motorable roads, rural electrification(as we’ve never had light since our existence) and we still align with your government, the honorable thing to do is not to forcefully foist a non-indigene from a town more than 150k away in another state on us just because you want to score a cheap and pointless political score.

Always remember that power is transient, some people have occupied the exalted position you seat on today, and what they do during the period still makes up their time and tenure be it good or bad, you will also be known for yours.
