Mohbad, a street-hop artist and rapper signed to Marlian Music, has expanded on his allegations of harassment against the company and its creator, Naira Marley, as he serves notice of termination. He also claims to have been physically assaulted and demands unpaid royalties spanning three years.
Naira Marley, through Marlian Music, allegedly neglected to pay Mohbad all royalties for the music he created while working with the record label starting in 2019—three years earlier, according to a letter sent by Mohbad’s legal representative. The letter also listed instances of Mohbad being physically assaulted, which they claimed “inflicted serious bodily harm” and posed a threat to Mohbad’s life.
The notice also demanded payment of the stated amount as well as an accounting of all digital sales of Mohbad’s catalog. Additionally, it had given the label seven days to turn over the singer’s entire labeled song library.
Additionally, Mohbad’s legal counsel indicated that the notice of termination took effect on October 7th.
Remember that Mohbad had just cried out again about his treatment at the label, alleging physical assault and claiming to have had injuries as a result on camera.
