Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife McKenzie Scott files for divorce from her second husband

Less than two years after being married, MacKenzie Scott and her husband, Dan Jewett, a former science teacher, are divorcing.
Scott wed science instructor Dan Jewett in Seattle the previous year after divorcing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019.
Jewett, a previous instructor at her children’s school, and Scott’s husband are no longer together.
On Monday, September 26, 2022, Ms. Scott submitted a petition for divorce to the King County Superior Court in Washington State, according to a copy of the document.
The Giving Pledge is a philanthropic organization that urges the world’s wealthiest people to donate the bulk of their fortune to charity causes. In 2021, McKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett announced their marriage with a statement on their webpage for the organization.
As part of a strategy to give away the majority of her fortune, Scott has donated billions of dollars.
Jewett stated in his speech on Giving Pledge in 2021, “I am married to one of the most giving and nicest persons I know — and joining her in a promise to pass on an enormous financial riches to benefit others.” I’m excited about the opportunities for development and learning that this project with MacKenzie will provide.
The Times reported on September 28 that Jewett’s letter appeared to have vanished from the Giving Pledge website and that Ms. Scott recently removed his name out of a Medium piece she had written about their gifts last year.
According to the NYT, Scott also removed Jewett’s author information from Amazon.com.
