Gospel singer, Eric Arubayi is dead.

According to several reports which have flooded online, the singer has passed on.

Arubayi died on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital after battling an illness.

Eric complained of feeling weak, and was rushed to the health center. But reports have filtered through that the singer is dead.

Late Eric is survived by a wife, Chinonso and one child. Eric and his wife Chinonso celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary recently. The couple has a son together.

Eric Arubayi, a Nigerian singer/songwriter, was born to a family of four from the Niger Delta region, was the 4th runner-up of first season of Idols West Africa.

He can be described as a classic R&B/Soul artist whose music basically summarise the basis of our existence, survival and hustle through life: Inspiration, Love and Motivation. R&B Legends like Brian Mcknight, Stevie Wonder and Boyz II Men have greatly influenced his style of music, especially as a song writer.

Eric came into limelight in the music scene due to his participation in the West African Idol maiden edition where he finished as third runner up with Timi Dakolo winning the prize.

Timi Dakolo was part of his groomsmen, as he walked down the aisle with his beautiful fiancé Chiononso Iiomah on December 28, 2013 in Abraka, Delta State.

Having released his debut album in 2011 titled ‘Redefined’ which saw him working with the likes of Jesse Jagz, he is most popularly known for major hits  such as ‘I go make am’, ‘Mr DJ’ and ‘One Love, One Voice’.

In 2012, Eric Arubayi, Susan Peters, Praiz and Oreka Godis covered February 2012 “LOVE” edition of Exquisite Magazine.  The edition is in celebration of young and rising stars.

According to the Exquisite team, “The quartet represent the life of the 21st century youth, hustling through a hectic cosmopolitan life, working hard and running in high heels, wearing strong cologne and a smile“.
