Several Nigerian celebrities, including Falz, Mr. Macaroni, and others, have declared that a second-year memorial will be held to remember those who died in the #ENDSARS protest in 2020.
Nigerian youths organized and led the #ENDSARS campaign, a nonviolent demonstration, in October 2020 to protest against police brutality, poor governance, and other mind-boggling vices in the nation. On October 20, 2020, at the Lekki-Toll Gate in Lagos, a horrific slaughter of citizens took place in response to the protest.
Another memorial has been scheduled on Thursday, October 20, 2022, near the location of the atrocity, Lekki Tollgate, just like it did in 2021.
Acclaimed rapper, lawyer, actor, and activist Falz posted a picture of the memorial’s features to Instagram on October 19, 2022. It is referred to as “Endsars Memorial 2.0” and is slated to go from 8 to 11 in the morning. Falz shared the image and wrote:
We will never ever forget. 🕊️ 🕯️
See you tomorrow.
Internet comedian, actor, and activist, Mr. Macaroni, also took to Twitter to share the same photo. He wrote:
Peaceful Walk tomorrow in honor of all #EndSars and Police Brutality Victims!!! We no go fit ever forget!!!!
