Eid-el-Maulud: FG declares Monday public holiday

To honor this year’s Eid-il-Mawlud celebration in remembrance of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, the Federal Government has proclaimed Monday, October 10, 2022, as a public holiday.
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior, made this announcement on behalf of the federal government and thanked all Muslims for being present this year, both at home and in the Diaspora.
The minister “admonished Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues and which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified, adding that doing so would guarantee peace, security, and harmony in the country” in a statement released Thursday evening in Abuja and signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore.
Aregbesola urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to abstain from crime, violence, and other violent behavior. The Minister said, “We must show responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race.”
The statement continued, “The Minister wishes all Muslims a joyous Ramadan and all Nigerians a joyous holiday.
