Though many people sing, only few are really gifted in music creation. There are people who sing just because they have a passion for music or just for pecuniary gains and yet, there are those who sing because they are gifted and passionate about music or just plainly destined to sing. What’s the difference? The difference may not reflect in their financial status, but it would reflect in their uniqueness, consistency and longevity. Those not gifted will give up and fade away when they encounter storms that come with the gift of music, while those destined to sing will spread their wings and fly above the storm. Those who are just passionate will write songs that appeal to the body of the listener, while those gifted will write songs that touch the soul of the listener. A gifted singer’s voice is a world of treasure that will always move the listener to ecstasy or tears because the composition makes a profound connection with the heart and soul of the listener. People that are gifted in music don’t have to go into séance to be inspired; they sing and compose freely any day, anytime, anywhere. Some gifted singers can sing wonderfully without even being trained to sing.
Every gifted musician has the ability to receive inspiration for songs and can foresee what will later happen through their dreams, but then, only few often remember their dreams. That is why sometimes you hear musicians accurately foretell world events in their songs or conversations, though many times they never knew it would turn out to be true. Many would not remember until it comes to reality and then would belatedly begin to tell people how they foresaw it happening sometime back. Others may be sceptical or afraid to tell the world what they foresaw because even to them, such dreams may appear too unreasonable and unrealistic. That’s why Job 35:10 says “But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night.”’
Many people dabble into music because they want to be famous and respected. Some others, who are into illegal businesses, even drug dealers also uses popular musicians to carry out their businesses or go into music so that people would not suspect them. All they desire is just to record songs that will be a hit for a few months, circulating in all the clubs. That is why they find it difficult to compose or write splendid songs unlike those who are truly gifted in music. They will only sing about sex, violence, drugs, and all sorts of junk, while the upcoming ones just want to join the bandwagon. That is why they sing songs that are empty, devoid of creativity, without conveying any positive message.
Now, how many of the hit songs that you loved, listened to and danced to five years ago, would you still want to pick up and listen to today? Only few. Why? Because most of them were songs for a moment not timeless songs.
